New Airport ID Badge – Step-by-Step Process

Step 1 -Authorized Signer: Pre-Enroll the Applicant

The Authorized Signer must pre-enroll the applicant in the Authorized Signer Portal.
Step 2 - Employee: Complete Electronic Forms and Schedule Appointment

Before your appointment, check your email for a link to complete all required electronic forms. These include Privacy Act Notice, Fingerprint Application, Badge Holder Agreement.
All forms must be submitted online using the link provided in the email. If the forms are not completed before your appointment, you will need to reschedule, and your application cannot be accepted.
Once you have submitted all required electronic forms, proceed to schedule your badge appointment.
Step 3 - Employee: Attend Your Badge Appointment

Be on time and bring all required documents:
- Valid photo ID or driver’s license
- Work authorization document (passport, birth certificate, etc.)
If you are a U.S. citizen born outside the United States, bring your Certificate of Naturalization or Certificate of Citizenship to help speed up background checks.
Check in at the kiosk. You will receive a text message confirming your check-in. Proceed to the waiting area and monitor the lobby screens—you will receive a text when a specialist is ready for you and what position to go to.
Background Check Processing
Background checks typically take 3–5 business days to process. You and your Authorized Signer will be notified by email once your background check has cleared.
Step 4 - Employee: Training and Airport ID Badge Pick-Up

You will receive an email once your background check has cleared. When cleared, you are eligible to complete the required training for your Airport ID badge.

Training is available on a walk-in basis. Check in with the receptionist and bring a valid, unexpired photo ID or driver’s license for verification.
Training Cutoff Times
The training you need depends on your badge type and driving designation. Please arrive before the cutoff times below:
- AMA: 3.5 hours before closing
- AOA: 2.5 hours before closing
- SIDA: 1.5 hours before closing
- Sterile: 1.5 hours before closing

After you complete and pass the required training, your Airport ID badge will be issued at the Credential Center.
